Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how FacefxLive ("FacefxLive", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and safeguards information when you use our website, desktop application, and related services (collectively, the "Service"). Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy.
If there is any discrepancy between the English version and any translated version of this Privacy Policy, the English version shall prevail.
Our core privacy commitment — your face never leaves your device.
FacefxLive performs all facial reconstruction and effect rendering locally on your own device — on your computer's hardware (desktop) or inside your browser (web tool). Your webcam feed, face, biometric characteristics, and the images or videos you process are never uploaded to, transmitted to, processed by, stored on, or accessible from our servers. We do not collect or retain facial or biometric data.
1. Scope and Data Controller
This Privacy Policy applies to the Service, including our website at facefxlive.com, the FacefxLive Windows desktop client, the browser-based image and video effects tool, and the account, licensing, and support services associated with them.
For purposes of applicable data-protection laws (including the EU General Data Protection Regulation and the UK GDPR), the data controller of the limited personal information described below is saulzhang, an individual developer operating FacefxLive. Contact details are set out in Section 14.
2. Information We Collect
We collect only the limited information necessary to operate accounts, process purchases, secure the Service, and understand aggregate product usage. The categories are described below.
2.1 Information You Provide to Us
- Account data. Your email address (used as your account identifier), your password (stored securely in a form that we cannot read and never in plain text), and your membership entitlement records — including tier (Free / Pro / Pro+), credit balance and expiry, and the devices on which you activate the product.
- Purchase data. Records of purchases and credit transactions associated with your account, together with the email address you provide at checkout.
- Communications. Information you provide when you contact our support team or respond to our communications.
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Usage and analytics data. Lightweight, aggregated signals about how the Service is used — such as pages viewed, interactions with specific interface elements (for example, navigation, download, and upgrade actions), whether a visitor is signed in, and session counts. When you are signed in, these limited usage records may be associated with your account to understand feature usage and improve the Service. We do not capture everything you do, and we never capture the content you type or the media you process.
- Technical data. Information standard to operating any online service, such as your IP address, browser type, device and operating-system characteristics, and the date and time of requests. We use this to keep the Service secure and functioning reliably, not to identify or profile you.
2.3 Information from Third Parties
- Payment providers. Our payment processors and merchant-of-record partner provide us with the information needed to fulfill and reconcile your order — typically your email address, the product or plan purchased, the amount, and a transaction reference.
2.4 Information We Do Not Collect
Consistent with our core commitment above, we do not collect:
- Your face, webcam feed, biometric data, or facial geometry;
- The photos or videos you process — these remain on your device;
- Your full payment card numbers or bank credentials (these are handled solely by our payment providers);
- Your contacts, files, or other data from your device; or
- Cross-site tracking or advertising identifiers.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the limited information described above to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the Service, including account creation, authentication, licensing, and activation;
- Process transactions, issue credits and entitlements, and provide customer support;
- Send service-related communications, such as verification codes, receipts, and important product notices;
- Secure the Service and prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized or excessive automated access;
- Understand aggregate product usage and improve features, performance, and stability; and
- Comply with legal, tax, and accounting obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it to serve you third-party advertising.
4. Legal Bases for Processing
If you are located in the European Economic Area ("EEA"), the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we process personal information only under the following legal bases:
| Purpose | Legal basis |
|---|---|
| Providing the Service, accounts, purchases, and downloads | Performance of a contract |
| Securing the Service, preventing fraud and abuse | Legitimate interests |
| Aggregate product analytics | Legitimate interests, or consent where required |
| Tax, accounting, and legal compliance | Compliance with a legal obligation |
Where we rely on legitimate interests, we do so only in ways that do not override your rights and freedoms. Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting prior processing.
5. Cookies and Local Storage
The Service uses browser cookies and similar local-storage technologies that are strictly necessary to operate it — for example, to keep you signed in and to remember your session and preferences. We also use privacy-respecting, aggregated analytics to measure traffic and understand product usage. We do not use cookies for cross-site advertising or to build advertising profiles of you. You can control or delete cookies and local storage through your browser settings; however, some features (such as staying signed in) may not function properly if you do so.
6. How We Disclose Information
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We disclose it only to the limited categories of recipients necessary to operate the Service, or as described below:
- Service providers. Vendors that host our infrastructure and deliver the Service (such as Cloudflare), process payments and handle tax compliance (our merchant-of-record partner), or send transactional email on our behalf. We may also use a privacy-respecting web analytics service (such as Cloudflare Web Analytics) to measure aggregate traffic. These providers process data under contractual obligations consistent with this Privacy Policy.
- Legal requirements. Where disclosure is required by law, subpoena, or other legal process, or where we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, our users, or public safety.
- Business transfers. In connection with a merger, reorganization, or sale of assets, subject to continued protection of your information.
- With your consent. Where you have directed or authorized a disclosure.
7. Data Retention
- Account data is retained for as long as your account remains active, and thereafter for a reasonable period to satisfy legal, tax, record-keeping, and dispute-resolution obligations.
- Sign-in sessions expire automatically after a period of inactivity.
- Verification codes are short-lived and single-use.
- Usage analytics are retained on a rolling basis for a limited period, after which they expire automatically; aggregate, de-identified counts may be kept longer.
When retention is no longer necessary, we delete or de-identify the relevant information.
8. Data Security
We apply administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect your information, including secure transmission over HTTPS/TLS, secure storage of credentials in a form we cannot read, and restricted access to our systems. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Because facial and video processing occurs entirely on your device, that content never passes through our systems — the strongest protection we can offer for your most sensitive data.
9. International Data Transfers
Our service providers operate globally, and the limited information we process may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own. Where such transfers occur, we rely on appropriate safeguards permitted by applicable law (such as standard contractual clauses where required). Because we process only limited account, transaction, and analytics information — and never your facial content — the scope of any transfer is minimal.
10. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information.
10.1 EEA, United Kingdom, and Switzerland (GDPR)
You may have the right to: access your personal data; rectify inaccurate data; request erasure; restrict or object to processing; data portability; withdraw consent; and lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
10.2 California (CCPA / CPRA)
California residents may have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, to correct inaccurate information, and to opt out of any "sale" or "sharing" (as defined by California law). We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined, and we do not use sensitive personal information beyond the purposes described here. We do not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
10.3 Other Regions
Residents of other jurisdictions may have similar rights under applicable local law. We will honor such rights in accordance with applicable law.
10.4 How to Exercise Your Rights
To exercise any right, contact us at [email protected]. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law and may need to verify your identity before processing your request. You may also close and delete your account by contacting us.
11. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 (or the minimum applicable age in your jurisdiction). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us promptly and we will delete it.
12. Third-Party Services
The Service may interact with, or contain links to, third-party websites, services, or applications (for example, streaming and video-conferencing software used with our virtual camera, or our payment providers). We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of such third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.
13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or applicable law. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, for material changes, provide prominent notice through the Service. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
